Down To Earth

"Song Of Exile" - Track 5

During an intensive in May 2005 this song arose during the worship. We only had a couple of Microphones running hence the poor quality of the recording. Steph started playing the flute melody over the top of the guitar and bass but every now and then she would return to notes out of key. Obviously not wanting to admit that she was just playing off key Steph would say that God was challenging us to think outside the box.

Steph writes...

Exile is all about change. New sights, new sounds, new ways of thinking. Home is a much safer place than Exile. When the people of Israel were taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, God told them to pray for the place they settled, to settle down and to build houses, and to increase in number there. We have a choice to stay in the comfort of our churches or to take Jesus into the “foreign land” of the town around us, to settle down, build houses, pray for our town and to increase in number there. We will see new sights, hear new sounds, discover new ways of thinking – but through that we will bring Jesus to the heart of this town.
