The Lexden leadership team
Our core leadership team is Neil and Maggie Loxley, Rob Buckingham and Robin Cotterrill. They are supported by an extended team who we affectionately call the BLT (Broader Leadership Team)!
Neil Loxley has been the Minister at Kingsland Lexden for over 20 years. “I love to see people develop and grow in their relationship with God and it excites me to see this time and again as people get hold of who Jesus is, how the Father loves them or what the Spirit can do. It’s exciting to see the changes this brings.”
“One of the great things is having the chance to explore scripture as the Spirit brings new insights and age old treasures, then being able to show how these truths apply to our lives. I enjoy meeting visitors to the church and am constantly amazed at the variety of people who are drawn to the church here. I also appreciate the opportunity to travel occasionally, especially to visit members of the Kingsland Church around the world. It is fantastic to see how people’s faith has inspired them to serve God in so many varied places. Check out our mission pages to see where Kingsland folk are spread on mission and service throughout the world!”
Neil is married to Maggie and they have three children. Neil first came to the church as a teenager in the mid 70’s. He trained as an Accountant in Colchester and then studied theology at college in London. He became full time Assistant Pastor at the church in 1985 when the church had 20 members and became the Pastor in 1987. He also runs a very part-time accountancy business.
Maggie Loxley - As well as serving on the core team, Maggie is one of a team of three Children & Youth Coordinators,
overseeing the youth work and making sure children can grow in their understanding of God and mature in their own faith. “I love
watching the children at Kingsland grow and discover God for themselves. Our kids are proud to be part of this church and get
involved in everything, even joining the worship bands, helping out on the sound desk and video cameras as they grow up. Church
is not boring for them, it is an exciting place to be where they are valued and appreciated no matter whether they are a
babe-in-arms protesting for an early lunch or a twenty-something asking searching questions – we love them all!”
Maggie is a district nurse and mother of three, and of course she’s married to Neil and so has her hands full keeping him out of trouble too!
Rob Buckingham is a full time leader at the Kingsland Lexden with responsibility for worship. “I like to describe our
worship as contemporary; it is fun, lively and involves a number of very talented people with a wide range of instruments and
styles. We are always pressing forward to use our gifts to lead people into God’s presence in worship.
“Getting paid to do the job I love is great! As a teenager I didn’t play any instruments, but at Kingsland Lexden I had the chance to get involved and I took to it like a duck to water. Everyone here is encouraged to use their gifts and given the freedom to develop; young or old, it doesn’t matter.”
Rob trained as a motor body repairer in the auto trade and occasionally helps out at the workshop alongside his full time role as worship leader here. He is married to Maria and they have three children.
Robin Cotterrill joined the leadership team in 2000 to support Neil giving practical advice and support. “We have a lot of fun at Kingsland, it always feels like a place where things are happening and that is what first drew me to the church in Lexden. As my own business background is in financial advice, we’ve been able to run seminars on finance and issues like dealing with debt to help people in a very practical way. It is good to be able to use my skills to help people and Kingsland is a place where everyone is encouraged to use their skills, no matter what they are!”
Robin is a member of the Association of Christian Financial Advisors. He is part of the preaching team at Kingsland Lexden and is married to Chris.
